Rapé Ceremony is a sacred medicine that has been used by tribes of the Amazon basin and is an essential part of their tribal medicinal culture. Rapé is made of wild tobacco with other herbs, seeds and tree ashes. Rapé is blown forcefully into the nostrils by the shaman with a special blowpipe. Rapé promote deep cleansing of the body, energetic field, emotions, mental stress, confusion and bring spiritual alignment. It clears the sinuses and blood flow to the brain.
LEARN MORE The Night Watchman: Amazonian Guayusa Dream Tea Ceremony This is a powerful shamanic experiential evening, where you will journey into the dimensions of dreamtime, and altered states. It is a vision quest that challenges your inner warrior, and your sense of space, time and direction, as you step into the mystery of dreamtime. In a special traditional ceremony, we honor the Guayusa tree spirit with chants, songs and music. As we sip the sacred tea, we go into deep meditative silence in complete darkness, to encounter and communicate with our spirit guides and other spirits, to enable us to bring new visions and awareness into our lives. The Amazonian Kichwa people of Ecuador believe that the Guayusa plant taught human beings how to dream. It is also called “The Night Watchman” because it sharpens the hunter’s instincts to keep focused energy, while bringing in night vision and awareness. Kichwa families drink gourds of Guayusa around the communal fire from dawn till sunrise as a way to create a tribal bond, and rejuvenate their spirit and bodies. During this time, they share their night’s dreams as the shaman interprets them, so they can plan the day’s course of action. This is also the time when the elders teach the youth about ancestral myths, hunting practices and social ethics. Guayusa, similar to yerba maté, is a medicinal plant that contains caffeine without the rugged edges, and it’s filled with healthy antioxidants. It also has theobromine, found in chocolate, and L- theanine, found in green tea. You will feel fully alive. It is not hallucinating; it simply activates the brain, not allowing it to go deep into theta/delta states (below the level of the conscious mind), which allows you to “see” your visions. |
Every healing system needs accurate methods to diagnose illness or imbalance. The most ancient of all healing traditions is shamanism. Shamans and healers the world over have for millennia trained to be able to ‘see’ into their patients’ physical, emotional and energy bodies, to observe them and then decide the best way to bring about healing. They do this by journeying in “non-ordinary reality” to obtain information about the causes and cures of their clients’ conditions from the spirit world. In this intensive workshop, we will focus on mastering some of shamanism’s diagnostic techniques.
This workshop will include learning how to: access and develop connections with a range of spirit helpers, such as power animals, inner teachers, and guides, scan and perceive the “three bodies”, develop intuitive hands, “read” the flames of candles, read an egg as it floats in a glass of water, use stones for divination, and more. We will have the opportunity to practice hands-on with our fellow participants. We will leave this workshop ready to begin using these ancient tools and techniques on ourselves, our family and friends, or, for those of us in a healing profession, with our clients. Introduction to Shamanic Journeying - Power Animals - Learn how to retrieve and develop deep connections with a range of spirit helpers, such as power animals, inner teachers, and nature guides, who can help and guide you in your diagnostic and healing missions. Full Body Hand Scanning and Body Energy Gazing - These are lay-of- hands and energy gazing techniques used to identify energy blockages in the physical, emotional and spiritual bodies. They help indicate the specific body areas and organs by sensing temperature fluctuations– hot and cold–that need special attention and healing due to emotional and physical traumas. Candle Flame and Egg Diagnostic Reading - A staple practice by the Yachaks of the Ecuadorian High Andes, it aids in finding out the general condition of the client and the root causes of their physical, emotional and spiritual health, or sickness. You will learn how to apply the candle on the client's body, the art of interpretation and meaning of each of the colour areas within the flame, what the shapes of the wax and flame mean, and the most importantly the wick positions and conditions. You will learn how to prepare and work with the egg on the client’s body, decipher the egg’s consistency, blemishes, white filament structures, and its position in the glass, and how it all relates to the person's life event and conditions and physical and emotional health. (Please bring a clear glass and 4 brown eggs) Stone Divination - Participants will be able to learn to see the past and future of their clients by observing the marking on the stones and deciphering the meanings of what they see. (Please bring a simple large stone - Orange fruit size-no crystals or fancy precious stones). * * * - Recommend reading: Here are two of my books that will help you understand more about shamanic healing and the techniques we are going to explore prior to the workshop: - The Gift of Shamanism: Visionary Power, Ayahuasca Dreams, and Journeys to the Other Realms - Shamanic Healing: Traditional Medicine for the Modern World |
