The Gift of Shamanism: Visionary Power, Ayahuasca Dreams, and Journeys to Other Realms
Discover the shamanic powers within each of us
• Explores ayahuasca rituals in the Amazon, messages from power animals and plant spirits, intuitive dreams, soul retrieval, and holograms of past lives and spirits • Explains the shamanic way of “seeing” to diagnose spiritual, emotional, and physical ailments via candle readings, remote viewing, and shamanic journeys • Details how the author has helped individuals communicate with loved ones who have passed on and release themselves from negative spirits Each and every one of us has shamanic powers. Glimpses of them can arise at any age in the form of intuitive dreams, déjà vu, spontaneous visions, and out-of-body experiences. Most people dismiss these experiences. However, by embracing these gifts, we can unlock our shamanic potential to change ourselves and the world around us. Revealing his transformation from skeptic to respected shamanic healer, Itzhak Beery explains how, after countless prescient dreams and visions throughout his life that he brushed off, a series of synchronistic events led to his first shamanism workshop with Michael Harner, renowned shamanism scholar and teacher. This, in turn, led to a trip to South America with John Perkins to work with indigenous shamanic healers. Beery shares his experiences with ayahuasca rituals in the Amazon, messages from power animals and plant spirits, dreams that foretold future events, and holographic sightings of past lives and spiritual entities, both evil and benign. He details his shamanic way of “seeing” to diagnose spiritual, emotional, and physical ailments via candle readings and remote viewing. Explaining how we are always surrounded by spirits, he recounts helping people communicate with loved ones who have passed on and shares powerful stories of soul retrieval during shamanic journeys to other worlds. Through his true stories of visions that manifested in reality, Beery reveals that we are all shamans. By igniting our natural intuition and developing trust for our inner powers, we can each connect to the oneness of nature where all knowledge is found. |

Ross Guttler, Chief Executive Officer The New York Open Center. I just returned from a two-week trek in Ecuador with one of our most popular teachers, Itzhak Beery. When deciding what to write for this catalog, the path presented itself. How could I not write about what I learned on my life-changing trip? Trust. Release expectations. Those are the indelible lessons I’m left with, and it all started at the Open Center. Three years ago, I was in the bookshop perusing our inspiring collection, and saw Itzhak’s book The Gift of Shamanism. Years later, during my first week on the job, I finally had the opportunity to meet Itzhak in person. After just five minutes of chatting, he invited me to Ecuador on his shamanic trek. I didn’t know the itinerary, and I didn’t care. I trusted Itzhak and I trusted the path I was on that led to our acquaintance. My intention for the trip was to seek vision, clarity, adventure and perspective of indigenous cultures. I had no idea what I was in for and what I left with was unexpected. Rather than vision and clarity, more questions were raised than answered. I also developed relationships that will last a lifetime. But instead of wallowing in disappointment over my missed intentions, I appreciate everything that was given to me. I left Ecuador with a renewed belief that while intentions are ok, approaching life with an open heart and mind is always the most rewarding. It was the Open Center that brought me to Itzhak, because that’s what our organization has been doing so well for over 35 years. As the need for community grows with our rising technology dependence, we believe it’s our obligation to physically connect both like-minded and diverse thinkers, and serve as a gathering space and sanctuary in the city for those who want to learn and grow. In our minds, this mission is more critical now than ever. I came back from Ecuador with an even stronger sense of purpose for the mission of the Open Center: to meet you, wherever you are on your journey, and provide you with a place to heal, expand and flourish. I am just one person, but the impact the Open Center has had on me, and in turn allowed me to give to others, is immeasurable. Each one of the courses, teachers, practitioners and trainings in our new catalog has the power to change your life. I don’t say that lightly. I know it from experience. So trust the path that presents itself, release expectations and come transform your life with us. "The Gift of Shamanism by Itzhak Beery was the first book I read after closing my very first plant dieta in the jungle. I discovered it in the library at Amaru Spirit and after reading the back of the book, I thought this is the perfect fit for this particular moment. I enjoyed the read very much and got inspired to explore my personal powers and perception of life from a different perspective. So I‘d like to express my deep gratitude to Itzhak for contributing one of the pieces on my personal path. Gracias!" - Ayahuasca FB Tim rated it 5.0 out of 5 stars it was amazing · A great anecdotal work, consisting the author's personal experiences in shamanism. No how-tos or instructions, but a book that opens the imagination to possibilities beyond this reality. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________ Lee Coleman rated it 4.0 out of 5 stars
Really liked it. Great book that gives excellent scope and detail to the world of Shamanic healing. I really appreciate that he didn’t only focus on plant medicines, as there is so much more to Shamanism than just Ayahuasca. Easy to read. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________ Autumn rated it 3.0 out of 5 stars
my-reviewed-books I enjoyed the travels to Ecuador and meeting the people there. Lots of interesting events and material to discover within this book. Worth the read if interested in traveling and Shamanism. Sol Luckman rated it 5.0 out of 5 stars Itzhak Beery's THE GIFT OF SHAMANISM is a wonderful, and wonderfully gentle, introduction to the magic, mystery and mysticism inherent in real shamanic practice--and I'm not just saying this because I painted the image on the cover. Which I did, by the way. I also painted the image that will be on the sequel, which I look forward to reading as well ... I especially appreciated that this wasn't a how-to-be-a-shaman book (as if we need another of those) but rather a text composed mostly of a series of delightful vignettes to stimulate the mind and spirit with the extraordinary possibilities presented by the Nagual to the would-be shaman. A breath of fresh air to a tired (and sometimes tiring) genre, THE GIFT OF SHAMANISM stands out as an open invitation to explore the vast field of human potential through--as Don Juan would phrase it--nonordinary reality. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________ Michael Drake rated it 5.0 out of 5 stars Itzhak Beery is a gifted storyteller. In his newly released book, The Gift of Shamanism, Itzhak Beery recounts his journey from a skeptical New York advertising executive to an accomplished shamanic practitioner and teacher. Through his riveting stories of visions that manifested in reality, Beery reveals that we all have dormant visionary powers waiting to be realized. This capacity to bring knowledge and healing from alternative realities and parallel dimensions is "the gift of shamanism." It is a gift that all we humans share. By embracing this gift, we can actualize our shamanic potential to change ourselves and the world around us. I highly recommend that you read this insightful book and apply its teachings to your life. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________ 5.0 out of 5 stars Incredible journey just reading this book By Vidit Gupta on March 23, 2017 If you're into shamanism and alternative/holistic healing or interested in the concept but don't know much about it, this book is GOLD! ____________________________________________________________________________________________________ 5.0 out of 5 stars Great stories By Joseph Galinato on March 28, 2017 This book had a lot of events that show the effectiveness of shamanism. By Sioux on September 19, 2016 I totally agree with the 5 star reviews for itzhak's writings. His style and stories make me feel like a comfortable, welcomed guest to stories seldom shared except to close, trusted friends. Easy to read, shared with humility, leaving me so appreciative that I was included in the story telling. So much resonated. I can't wait to share this book with a couple of close friends who will "get it." But then I want it back to read again. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________ 5.0 out of 5 stars A Beautiful, Inspirational Read By R. E. Krauser on July 6, 2015 In The Gift of Shamanism, Itzhak Beery takes a seemingly foreign and untouchable realm for most people and makes it relatable and applicable to today's global citizens. In his words, shamanism is a "practical practice" rather than a spiritual one. The book illustrates how every individual is able to harness the inner power that is needed to create the life that he or she wants to live. Everyone, ranging from those with little experience with shamanism to those who have been practicing for years, can benefit from this book. Its captivating, inspiring, beautifully told stories illustrate the main facets of shamanism through the personal perspectives of people who have experienced it. Through Beery's telling of his own personal journey from an NYC advertising exec to contemporary shaman, it is, in itself, a perfect example of how one can combine a formerly other worldly subject and make it one for every man. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________ 5.0 out of 5 stars Delightful, Inspiring, Illuminating -- Simply Wonderful By Francie Nolan on January 6, 2016 I absolutely loved reading this book. I love memoirs, I love books about shamanism, and this is a fabulous combination of both. Mr. Beery immediately engaged me in his narrative. His writing is as clear and refreshing as running water. Early on, he tells the story of stopping in a bookstore to pick up something substantial to read for a long flight to Hawaii in the 1990's. He was in the middle of a midlife crisis and trying to make sense of things. As a lifelong atheist, he certainly never looked to the spiritual dimension for assistance. The book he picked up, Spiritwalker by Hank Wesselman, was the beginning of a new life he never saw coming. Ultimately, of course, Mr. Beery became a shaman, and the way there and through is fascinating. I loved his autobiographical stories, particularly about his early years on a kibbutz in Israel. I loved hearing about his shaman teachers, his non-ordinary experiences journeying and meeting with spirit guides and spirit or power animals. (The story about the jaguar in the forest blew me away.) I loved reading about the ways he learned to "read" people and his descriptions of what he literally sees. I particularly loved reading about his experiences in soul retrieval, finding the split-off parts and convincing them to return so the souls of his clients can heal. He gives the inside dope! He was sometimes surprised by who he saw in healing. Once it was Mother Mary with Baby Jesus. I've read a lot of wonderful shaman-related books, but this is my absolute favorite. It's a book I couldn't put down and found so inspiring. It gives hope and illuminates the world of the shaman as well as somehow illuminating a bit of the mystery of being. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________ 5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful book. After reading this, I scheduled a phone session with the author. He is very kind. God Bless him for all the healing work he does as well as training other shamans. Itzhak Beery is writing from his heart, and I really connected to his stories. He describes the process that led him to practice shamanism in a very sensitive and an interesting way, that reminded me of my personal path that led me to be a healer. This book reveals the magnificent and fascinating world of shamanism." ____________________________________________________________________________________________________ 5.0 out of 5 stars His style and stories make me feel like a comfortable. I bought your book, The Gift of Shamanism” right before I got on the plane to Peru. I went to a two month initiation with the shipibo. While I was fasting, vomiting, drinking so much ayahuasca I thought I’d never come back. I was reading your book. Thanks for the support you didn’t even know you were offering! –A.M California |
